This paper discusses the importance of Language Week at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. This annual activity has really projected the image of the Department of Languages not only within the university but also in the country. To this end, this communication aims to:
– Situate the origin of this annual activity within Fourah Bay College, the University of Sierra Leone.
– List some of the difficulties that the department faces with respect to the organization of the program.
– List the impact of Language Week.
The communication reveals that before the start of the Language Week, the department had difficulty bringing together teachers and students from the different streams (English, French, Linguistics and Arabic streams which include the language department) outside the classrooms courses. However, the situation has changed since the beginning of the Language Week and this now has a great impact, not only for the students and the administration of the University but also for those who plan to continue their university studies at Fourah Bay College . . In order to realize this communication, the literary review (data, memoirs as well as other communications) will be made.
